Controversial Mob Book Gives Author a Good Working Over
Veteran author Djelloul Marbrook seems to have struck gold with his first fully published hardcover novel, the edgy and controversial mob fiction “Saraceno” (Sara-CHAY-no).
Woodstock & Syracuse, NY, January 18th, 2006 – Veteran author Djelloul Marbrook seems to have struck gold with his first fully published hardcover novel, the edgy and controversial mob fiction “Saraceno” (Sara-CHAY-no). The book centers around Billy Salviati, mob hit man who prefers to stay low profile and not make waves. His entire life and philosophy are forcibly changed when the affections of a young woman and the friendship of a mob boss who declares him a hero enter the picture. Soon the resulting exposure of his new found status leaves him open to attack from new and old enemies alike, relentlessly hunting him from all sides. The controversy of the book comes from the fact that it centers on a modern day Sicilian crime family, and although is a fiction, much of the story is inspired by the author’s own childhood and family; his father was a friend of a very prominent New York mob boss. Controversy or not the book has been a hit with fans, critics and the media, and is keeping this former reporter and editor busy in early 2006. Djelloul has already appeared on WNYX-TV New York’s show “The New Yorkers” and Tron Simpson’s Morning Show at KCMN 1530 AM in Colorado Springs. His upcoming schedule of appearances include: • Friday Jan 20th, 8:30 AM - Interview with Kurt Andrews at WIMO radio 1300 AM in Bethlehem , Georgia. • Sunday Jan 22nd, 8:45 AM – Guest member of Doug Grunther's Woodstock Roundtable on Radio Woodstock, WDST 100.1 FM • Monday Jan 23rd, 9:45 AM - Interviewed on "Bridge Street with Rick and Julie" on WSYR-TV in Syracuse, New York. The station is an ABC affiliate. • Saturday Feb. 11th, 5PM - The Golden Notebook bookstore sponsors Saraceno reading/ signing, 22 Rock City Road, Woodstock, NY, at The Colony Café.
