Byers-Evans House Museum

If you travel to Denver, Colorado, you can pay a visit to a different and characteristic museum. The Byers-Evans House Museum is one of the most magnificent historic residences of Denver. It was constructed in 1883 by Rocky Mountain News founding Editor William Byers, but later it was put to sale and bought in 1889 by the family of William Grey Evans, a Denver Tramway Company officer. The residence was restored to the period between 1912 and 1924.

The Museum offers visitors guided tours all through the elegant house, where you can admire the beautiful original furnishings of the Evans family. In addition, you can watch a short film and learn about Denver, the careers of the Byers and Evans families, and how these pioneer people built this city. Many other activities are held at the Museum, including folk and traditional music concerts, lunch tours, short stories staged at the Byers-Evans Library, as well as school and educational tours.

The Byers-Evans House Museum’s Store offers gifts and books for visitors of all ages. You can find a good collection of Van Briggle art pottery crafted in Colorado Springs in addition to all sorts of interesting gifts. The store is open Tuesday through Sunday and from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
